I have always wanted to make a wooden reindeer with my children. They are very cute and perfect to add to your natural dining table or Christmas nativity scene. One afternoon, our lovely packer used woodworking tools very skillfully. He came to teach us how to make reindeer, Christmas tree and wooden snowman from the branches in our garden. This is a very simple crafting idea using woodworking tools; a perfect project for kids to get used to using tools.
You will need: saw, bevel cone, hand drill, some branches, fir sprigs, glue and some red, black and orange paint.
-Use a saw to cut 1 base/piece for the Christmas tree and 5 pieces of wood for the snowman.
-Drill a hole in the center of the wooden plate.
-Glue it to the twigs of your fir or pine tree to make a mini Christmas tree.
-To build a snowman, first glue a small disc to a large disc; this will be your snowman hat.
-Glue the smaller disc to one side of the larger disc to create the snowman's body.
-Glue it to the snowman's hat and base.
-Use a small stick (we cut chicken skewers in half), dipped in black paint, and dot the eyes, mouth and some buttons. Also use a stick, dip it in orange and paint the carrot nose.
-Finally, the reindeer. Use a saw to cut out the cylindrical shape; this will be the main body of the reindeer. It doesn't matter what size is, as long as the part used as the head is small.
-Using a miter, saw a small piece of wood with one end inclined and the other straight. Collect 5 pieces of wood, 4 pieces for the legs and 1 piece for the neck.
-Drill 4 holes on one side of the reindeer's body and one hole on the other side near the edge. This is where the neck is.
- Drill 1 hole near the straight side of the reindeer head, and drill 2 holes on the other side near the horn side-this is where the antlers are located.

-Find 2 small branches and put them in the holes to make antlers, connect the head to the body and insert the remaining 4 branches as legs.
-Use your chicken skewers or sticks to draw eyes and red noses.
